Lindy Yoannidis

Beauty

in the Wild.

Lindy Yoannidis is a sculptor/ multimedia artist based in Sydney, NSW.

Her work holds a sensibility that playfully explores the threads of nature that govern life. It is inspired by nature’s fingerprint embedded in coastal forms and desert regions, in seedpods, shells, marine life, the pigment and pitting of coastal sandstone and the windswept arid sand dunes.

Yoannidis’s passion for the natural world is expressed in her use of organic materials. Her sculptural installations are from clay, wood, leaves, bark and spices capturing a sensual experience of her surroundings.

Focussing on the transition zones where the ocean meets the land, and from the bush and desert regions her work is bold and immersive, attempting to capture some of the complex beauty of the wild. Inspiration is drawn from aerial views of the Australian landscape, coastal walks, underwater exploration and exposure to the indigenous cultures ofAustralia, Southeast Asia and India.
